Treadwells... we will be back
Once upon a time, not so long ago, we were not plant based. Much of our weekend revolved around food, often heading out for lunch or dinner. We had assumed that going plant based would mean a significant decline in dining out options but luckily we have London on our doorstep and the options are plentiful!
So, Treadwells... If you're looking for a reasonably priced fine-dining plant based menu then look no further. Close to Covent Garden, this is top of our list to return to as the food was amazing and it's perfect if you are eating out with others who do not share your plant based enthusiasm.
The restaurant has a nice feel, the downstairs feels like a cosy bar and the booths would be great if you are eating out with a few friends. We were seated upstairs and would say that it didn't have quite as nice a feel, although that could be because it was quite quiet and felt a bit open and bare.
The food though was top notch... There are plenty of plant based options on the a la carte menu or you can plop for the 5 course "Vegwells" tasting menu - we went for the tasting menu, just for research purposes of course :)
We loved every course but the stand out was the Miso glazed king cabbage with cavolo nero and cobnut. The Miso glazed cabbage was charred and cooked such that it had that barbecue flavour whilst still maintaining a lovely crunch. Something we noticed across the menu was the clever use of different plant based creams and toppings - we've already been making these and playing with them in different dishes at home.
We will be back...
Tip: make sure you order a side or two as these were also delicious!!
